The great thing about the internet is that it takes very little to no money to start making money. You don't need any premesis which means you can easily work out of your spare bedroom or even an internet cafe. There are ways that you can make money online that don't involve any money at all. For instance, you can go to blogger.com and create an account. Then create a blog about a topic that you know about and then create some articles. It's a good idea to create articles where you help solve people's problems such as "how to fix a scratched cd" or "how to get rid of stretch marks." You then talk about what products or services can be used to resolve these problems. The easiest way to monetize your articles is to create an account with Google Adsense or Chitika because they will display adverts that match the content of your site. Every time someone clicks on an ad you get paid for it. (Just make sure you don't click on your own ads because you could get banned for click fraud.)
The problem with setting up a free blog is that you technically don't own it. Which means if the company goes bust you will probably lose all of your hard work. It's also difficult (if not impossible) to sell them to someone else. Also, if you have no money to spend you won't be able buy certain tools and services that help speed up article directory submissions, social bookmarking submissions, blog commenting, writing articles etc. You will have to do all the work by hand which will take longer. If you have money to spend you could outsource a lot of the work to people who live in India where wages are much lower than in the West.
If you have some money to spend then you should look to buy your own domain names (Godaddy is one of the best and cheapest out there) and then have them hosted with HostGator. Ideally you should get the reseller account but if you don't have that much money to spend every month on hosting then you should opt for one of the shared hosting accounts.
There's a lot to learn about making money online but it is possible with a lot of hard work and determination. The majority of people give up within a couple of months because they don't see the results they were hoping for. For other people it can take a couple of years for them to properly learn what they need to do to make money.
